Year 5 had a wonderful day on Thursday as they had the opportunity to make bread in D+T. Both classes have worked hard to create recipes inspired by Paul Hollywood’s recipe of a simple cob, as well as recipes from home. The children worked in groups of 6 to mix the ingredients and document the process on iPads before leaving the dough to prove. Once the bread had doubled in size, the children then created their own individual bread roll and left it to prove once again before taking it to the kitchen to bake. Needless to say, their finished products were superb, with children stating, “it’s better than the bread we buy from the shops!”. We will hopefully be baking again before the end of term, trying to perfect our recipe. With the standard being as high as we saw in the first bake, we might even have a few children who could be seen on the Great British Bake off in a few years!
