William Patten Primary School

We hosted another World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March at William Patten and it was yet another hugely successful day celebrating books and the love of reading! All children looked fantastic in their book character costumes, ranging from Harry from Harry Potter, The Big Friendly Giant from The BFG, Alice from Alice in Wonderland, Wally from Where’s Wally? Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and Asterix to name but a few! It was also marvellous to see the staff of WP dressed up for the day! We had members of the Seven Dwarfs from the story of Snow White, the green crayon from The Day the Crayons Quit, Mr and Mrs Twit from The Twits, the tiger from The Tiger Who Came to Tea, to Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games and beyond! The children took part in many activities across the day celebrating books and characters and all were able to showcase their costumes in assemblies too! A great day had by all! Thanks to everyone who helped to make it such a success.

Children will have received a £1 book token from their teacher. This book token can be used to purchase books in participating stores, or can be used at our Travelling Book Fair, beginning next week on Wednesday 8th March and running every day after school from 3.30-4pm in the bottom hall until Tuesday 14th March. Spending your book tokens at the book fair will help raise money for William Patten to buy further books for the school as a whole. We hope to see you all there!
