I hope you are well and thank you very much for such positive emails and feedback about the interactive sessions on Mondays and the opportunity for children to meet their teachers to say goodbye and meet their new teacher. I am delighted that the children are so pleased – we are looking forward to seeing them!
Plans for next year
There is currently no planning or guidance from the DfE or the local authority on the type of provision schools should offer for the Autumn term, so each school is working on their own plan. We are seeking your opinion on possible return to school scenarios, so that we open our school in a way that works for you and your family, and also that allows us to provide the best possible education for your children.
In September, if schools are required to adhere to the current government guidance on social distancing of 2 metres then reduced class sizes, deep cleaning requirements etc. it is highly likely that we will need to offer a “blended model” of teaching, to ensure that we can open our school to all year groups. Even if the social distancing rule is reduced to 1m, we will still only be able to fit 15 children in each class and will still need to offer the blended model. Therefore the offer may involve a mix of part time classroom learning, online learning and homework. If you have children in two or more year groups we would try to make sure that they were in school on the same days, in order to minimise disruption to your week. We would be grateful if you could complete the survey to inform our planning.
If you have more than one child at William Patten, please complete this survey https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WP-siblings
If you only have one child at William Patten, please complete this survey https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/WP-Y1
The survey will close on Monday 22nd June at 3.30pm. We are also asking teachers and support staff for their views. Once we have the views of the school community, we will finalise our plans and share with you when they are ready.
Goodbye to teachers
We have arranged the dates for children and teachers to say good bye and these are attached to the letter. This is over two days. Please click the link Year 1 form to say if your child is coming and when we know numbers of children, we will send more information about arrangements for lunch etc.
Hello to new teachers
We are finalising staffing for next year and I hope to be able to share that news next week. I will also include the dates for your child to meet their new teacher.
Parents have been asking about when we will send the children’s books home, which would normally happen in July. The children will be able to collect their books on the day they come to say goodbye.
Save the Children resource
I’m happy to share Save the Children’s second Covid-19 resource pack for families. You can access this (phone friendly version) here.
Have a lovely weekend and hopefully the weather is going to be a bit better!
