The whole school cross-curricular ‘Local Heritage Project’ started on 12th of March and took place over three weeks. Children explored the following themes throughout the project -
• Immigration and the diversifying community
• Significant people and places
• Arts and Literature
• Social Reform & Education
• Work and Leisure
• Local buildings and architecture
Throughout the project there were visitors to school, including former pupils of William Patten and a number of trips to local places of significant historical interest.
As we are a partner school of the Geffrye Museum, we were pleased to hold a Museum in Residence over the first week of the project. Each class was given the opportunity to handle objects from the 1700s and 1800s in the context of ‘Almshouses’.
