Dear parents,
We have received some queries as to whether school will close due to the very high temperatures forecast for Monday and Tuesday https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62177458
There are no plans to close school at the moment, and we are following guidance from Hackney and the NHS.
The temperature in the building is surprisingly cooler than it is outside, and in line with national recommendations, we are opening the windows very early in the morning. Every classroom has a fan and children have access to water when they need it. In addition, staff are being vigilant and are encouraging the children to drink water often.
I would like to reassure you that the playgrounds have a lot of shade and we are keeping the hosepipe sprayers on during playtimes in the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds, to keep the children cool. We will also be serving a cold picnic lunch on the last three days too, rather than a hot meal.
Please ensure your child comes to school in loose, light clothing, apply sunscreen before they come in the morning and children must bring a hat and water bottle.
Should the situation change, we will let you know as soon as possible.
Best wishes
Karen
