During June / July prior to starting in Reception in September, children attending local nurseries are invited to visit EYFS classrooms and the outside area, with their key worker. They are also invited to meet the headteacher with their parents.
In September, we invite children and their parents to a ‘School Visit’; where they meet their child’s class teacher and teaching assistant. Families can look around the classroom and the outdoor area and parents can ask any specific questions that they may have about our EYFS.
We have a staggered start for all EYFS children; this allows children to have their first day at school in smaller class sizes (10 children max.) and children are only in school for the morning session. Once everyone has had their ‘Starter Day’, all children attend our Nursery / Reception part-time (mornings only). This continues for a few days and then children revert to their scheduled timetable (part-time / full-time Nursery or full-time Reception.)
