We are proud of the support of our school community through effective collaboration.

Prospective parents

We offer prospective parents a chance to visit to meet the Headteacher and tour the school and are also happy to share our school’s film below. We hope that this provides an insight into the ethos of William Patten, as well as the opportunities we offer as part of our rich and diverse curriculum and the facilities that are available to enhance teaching and learning and wellbeing.

Visitor access

The school benefits from a wide range of parental and community involvement.

We look forward to welcoming parents, carers and friends back into the school again, to support with special events, projects, trips and visits.

As you will appreciate, it is not possible for teachers to discuss issues with parents/carers at the beginning and end of the day when they are supervising their class in the playground. If you want to talk to your child’s teacher about any concerns, please initially email the school at admin@williampatten.hackney.sch.uk. Alternatively, you can speak with a member of the office team over the telephone on 0207-254-4014 and the relevant member of staff will contact you as soon as possible. The Senior Management team are also in the playground at the beginning and end of the school day.

Security

While staff and governors wish to facilitate access to the school for parents and carers, they also have a responsibility for the safety and security of children. All visitors during school hours are therefore asked to:

  • Use the entry phone at the Church Street entrance, to speak with the staff on reception in the first instance.
  • Sign in at the office if entering the school and wear a visitor’s badge during their stay. This is not intended to act as a discouragement to visit, but is necessary as a security measure.

The back gate on Dynevor Road and side gate on Lancell Street are opened by a member of the senior management team at the beginning and end of the school day:

  • from 8.53am – 9.05am, and
  • from 3.25pm to 3.40pm

Otherwise, entry is via the main gate on Church Street.

In addition to the entry phone on Church Street, closed-circuit television (CCTV) system is also in operation during the school day and until our after school provision (Junior Adventures Group) closes at 6pm.
