The school gates open each morning at 8.53am. For the safety of the children, they should not arrive at school before 8.53am (unless they are in a club or attend breakfast club). Children cannot be supervised before this time, as staff have a morning meeting.
Drop off and collection
Children start school at 9am and finish at 3.30pm. Total weekly hours: 32 hours and 30 minutes.
Start of day
We open Lancell Street and Dynevor Road gates at 8.53am and they are closed at 9.05am. Families can decide which gate is the most convenient for them to use.
Children come into school on their own and go up to their classrooms. The registers are taken at 9am. Children arriving in the classroom after 9.05am will be marked as late.
For the first TWO weeks of term, Year 1 parents should use the Lancell Street gate to drop off their child. Parents will say goodbye to their child at the gate and then their child will line up in front of their teacher. The teacher will then walk children into school. Parents should stay outside the gate. After two weeks parents can drop off via either gate.
Please ensure your child arrives punctually. We ask that you get your children into the playground in good time to go into school. Late arrivals disrupt the class and the learning of the child. The day starts with a concentrated reading or phonics session that it is crucial that your child takes part in.
Children arriving after the bell will be marked as late by the office staff. This will be recorded and show on your child’s absence and lateness record. Parents of children whose attendance or punctuality cause concern will be required to meet with the Headteacher.
Collection arrangements
Year 1 – 6 classes come down to the playground and wait in their allocated spaces to be collected at 3.30pm.
Year 1 | In the large playground, by the houses |
Year 2 | On the Astroturf in the large playground |
Year 3 | On the Astroturf in the large playground |
Year 4 | In the small playground: 4C by the waves and 4M on the steps |
Year 5 | In the small playground on the football pitch |
Year 6 | In the small playground by the climbing frame |
Year 6 children may walk home alone, if we have written permission and children can use which gate is the most convenient.
We would be grateful if families could leave as soon as possible after collection, as Junior Adventures Group use both playgrounds for activities. We would also be grateful if children did not play on the climbing frame or gym equipment after school.
