What is WAMHS?

The Wellbeing and Mental Health in Schools (WAMHS) project is an initiative led by the CAMHS Alliance with the support of the Children and Young People’s Integrated Commissioning work stream in City & Hackney.

This innovative service aims to improve mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people in schools, colleges, specialist and alternative provision education settings in City & Hackney.

William Patten is part of the WAMHS project which supports our aims to improve wellbeing and mental health support by giving us access to a mental health practitioner, known as a CAMHS Worker in School (CWIS). The CWIS is supported by Wellbeing Framework Partner and both meet regularly with the Deputy Head Teacher and SENDCO to monitor, support and promote well-being in the school.  For more information on WAMHS in Hackney click here.

Our CWIS (CAMHs worker in school) Lora Linhares-Marx, a Child and Adult Psychotherapist, is in school on Tuesdays. Lora is available for consultations, to offer advice to parents who would welcome a conversation about their child’s wellbeing.

Meet Danila, our Education Mental Health Practitioner

Hi, I’m Danila De Morais, I am an Education Mental Health Practitioner from the Mental Health in Schools team at City & Hackney CAMHS, and I’m excited to be supporting William Patten. I’ll be based at the school on Tuesday mornings, running wellbeing and mental health workshops where I will be sharing tips, resources and strategies to help promote positive mental health and wellbeing and support our children. I will also be offering one-to-one support for parents. I look forward to working together to create a supportive and healthy environment for everyone!

Danila will be facilitating the following in-person workshops for parents:

‘Sleep Hygiene’

Tuesday 25.02.25 @ 10am

In this session, we will cover:
What is sleep? Understanding the science behind sleep.
Why is sleep important? The impact on mental and physical health.
Why do we sleep? How rest supports learning, mood, and growth.
How to improve sleep hygiene? Practical tips for better sleep routines.

Good sleep is essential for your child’s wellbeing, focus, and emotional health. Join us to learn simple, effective strategies to help your child sleep better and wake up feeling refreshed!

‘Emotional Regulation’

Tuesday 04.03.25 @ 10am

The Zones of Regulation framework provides a powerful approach to helping children identify and understand their emotions, enabling them to manage their responses to different situations.

This workshop will give you practical tools and strategies to:

Support your child in identifying their emotions
Help your child learn techniques for self-regulation
Promote a calm and supportive home environment
Foster emotional intelligence and resilience
