Children from William Patten go on to a wide range of secondary schools, maintained and independent, in Hackney and beyond.
Admissions are made through the London-wide eadmissions system. All 33 London boroughs, together with eight councils bordering the capital, have signed up to a system to co-ordinate admissions to their secondary schools.
Under this London Schools Admissions System, parents list the schools that they want to apply for online or on a form, ranking them in order of preference. (This is important as only one offer will be made and this will be from the highest ranked school able to make an offer).
The selection of secondary school is one of the most important decisions parents/carers must make. To help with this process, the Headteacher normally invites all Year 5 parents in the summer term to meet and discuss the process. This is then followed up in the autumn term with the offer of an individual appointment to discuss the choice of secondary school and to complete the online transfer form.
We support the children through this process and have well established links with all of Hackney’s secondary schools.
Additional information about secondary schools is available from Hackney Education.
