STEM Week
We enjoyed STEM week recently, including our annual fabulous Family Challenge!
As part of STEM week, nursery children made their own boats, which they then tested to see if they would float. Year 1 designed and made their own boats with propellers! After the making, there was of course the testing, which explains why there was a paddling pool on the roof!
Years 1 to 6 also took part in wonderful workshops run by the local group STEAM Lab Hackney. The children had the opportunity to get hands on with a range of technology including Indi car robots, Sphero bots which they programmed to talk and micro:bits which they used to make electric guitars.
Year 4 had a special visitor. Falcon and Dolly’s dad came in to talk to us about being a pilot. We learned about all the different factors that allows something as big as an airplane to take flight. We were even able to make connections between air pressure in flight and the barometers we made in class as our focus STEM activity.
