Over 60 family members joined us for a delicious lunch today for the Year 5 CDWU. A huge thank to Ali and his team for all their hard work. Lunch was yummy. Thank you to all our guests for coming. It was so lovely to see you and the children were delighted and so excited and happy to see you in school!
Year 3 had a fantastic time exploring the Music Gallery, World Gallery and Natural History Pop-up at the Horniman Museum, as well as the animal walk, sound garden, prehistoric garden and display garden! They successfully found all the artefacts on their treasure hunt and had lots of additional exciting experiences like feeling the inside of a tortoise shell and writing a tag for the wishing tree! A very big thank you to all of the parents who were able to come with us on the trip. Your support and time is very much appreciated and we couldn’t do it without you!
Reception children, their teddies (or other assorted soft toys!) and parents had their annual Teddy Bears' Picnic on Wednesday 5th of November. Mountains of delicious food was brought to share and everyone had a wonderful time playing together in the playground and chatting with friends. We were joined by some of our Year 6 Peer Supporters who helped the picnic run smoothly. It was lovely to see so many parents and grandparents at the event, which had to be rescheduled due to inclement weather in September – luckily the weather held up this time!
Year 1 headed off on their trip to the Young V & A to support their history topic. We had been told there would be photographers and a film crew there and a special performance. However, we did not know why!
Well, we found out that our visit coincided with a visit by the Emperor and Empress of Japan! The museum is hosting an exhibition exploring how landscape and folklore have influenced Japanese art, technology and design. The children thoroughly enjoyed a mini performance of the stage show ‘My Neighbour Totoro’! Certainly a day to remember.
It was so lovely to welcome Year 6 parents today for their last opportunity to attend a Year 6 Come Dine With Us! The children were so happy and excited to see you in school. Thank you so much for coming. A very big thank you to Ali and the team for a delicious lunch.
IWD has been celebrated throughout the month with a launch assembly last week and visits to Abney Cemetery throughout March. Year 3 and 4 also visited the Bank of England Museum (where classes engaged in an insightful “Women at the Bank” storytelling session). Thank you to Marion who inspires us all with her creative approach to Humanities.
Year 6 visited a corporate workshop space at Canary Wharf last Friday for their 'Dragon's Den' trip. It concluded Enterprise Week where Year 6 children worked in teams to complete a project related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). They presented the outcome of their work to a panel of professionals from range of industries and sectors.
