Dear families,
We are reimagining part of our roof space as the ‘Benjamin Zephaniah Poetry Garden’, in honour of the great poet who sadly passed away at the end of 2023. The attached poster, which will be sent to all children on Google Classroom, explains how you can support your children to take part in this.
We are also seeking any parents, carers, friends and members of the local community who feel they could support us in this endeavour in any way. In particular, anyone who would like to create a mural/artwork (on what is currently a large outdoor blackboard) or a sign/plaque for the garden, will be very gratefully received. Please respond to this email for more information if you think you can help with skills or materials for either of these tasks!
We will be launching the space on World Book Day (7.3.24), and we cannot wait for the children to fill the garden with poetry performances – including the work of Professor Benjamin Zephaniah and some creations of their own.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Maya Domb
